This landscape photo originally did not really looked inspired by the artist that my group chose. But, by editing it to make the colours of the sunset more vivid and darkening the brightness, this photo represents the dark and almost spooky photos of our artist. Although I think that this represented the artist well, I think that I could have shot a stronger photo to capture this scene. Such as changing my shutter to get more clarity of the moving water.
For this project I went for a walk through a beautiful natural trail. I was originally hoping to take a cliche shot of a waterfall but thought that using trees and sunlight could be just as interesting. My cliche shot was taken just of the bottom of some trees and it looks very similar to a snapshot. To shake it up I turned around 190 degrees to where the sunlight was shimmering through the tree tops making the scenery almost look magical. I enjoyed this project and it opened my mind to not just taking basic, cliche photos.
My goal when taking these photos was to try and see the depth of an everyday appearance that most people do not even consider. I chose the stairs leading the the library classroom to show the difference between symmetry and asymmetry. I found it rather difficult to find the same angle of the stairs when taking the second photo. To make this photo less typical I made it black and white for a bit more of an abstract look rather than just the normal colours because it made the photo look less like a snap shot.
My summer took the theme of getting out into the world and trying new activities with new people. One of the more time-necessary activities from my summer would include being a ARM for a student-led charity called Kindler's Society in which we collect books and fundraise to ship books and create "libraries" in schools located in impoverished nations. Another event from my summer was when in Winnipeg. My much younger cousins were baptized and the family was brought together for a nice little get together. A visit to the aquarium, prep-camp in Whistler, and watching Canada Day fireworks were other experiences from my summer.
Taking 6 snapshots was rather awkward to start but soon after starting the task got much easier. The less time that was put into the photo made it have more of a snapshot look since there was less effort put into "making" the photo. Without any people in these snapshots the theme is generated around construction.
